Plan now to come to Albany on Monday, May 12th and advocate with Interfaith Impact for three morally significant issues that have a disproportionate impact on women: the Women's Equality Act, Transgender Rights, and a living minimum wage. Legislators and their staff need to hear from you in person. This is your once-a-year opportunity to gather with others from across the state and make your progressive, moral voice count.
In addition to our position papers on these issues, we will also leave each legislator with a letter expressing our disappointment in the Legislature's failure to pass campaign finance reform and a position paper that offers our compassionate support for medical marijuana.
We will meet in Room 120 of the Legislative Office Building, which will be our home base for the day. The room opens at 9:30 a.m. Our introductory program starts at 10:00 and team visits with legislators begin at 11:30. Most scheduled visits will be over by 3:00 p.m.
During the first week in May, we will send you our position papers and links to our papers on the web. Registration is free, and walk-ins are welcome, but if you RSVP, we can create a schedule for you and email you an information packet beforehand.
(Note: There is no public street-level access to the LOB. Visitors must enter from the north end of the underground Empire State Plaza Concourse or enter the Capitol building and take the escalator down to the Concourse level. Room 120 is on the Concourse level of the LOB.
